FAQ

What is a doula?2025-04-14T11:24:49-04:00

A doula is a non medical, trained professional who can provide education and support to people during pregnancy, labor, childbirth, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, postpartum, lactation, parenting, and death or loss of a loved one.

What support can I expect from a doula?2025-04-22T00:40:54-04:00

Doulas provide emotional, physical, social, and spiritual support as well as resources and education during the sacred time of pregnancy, postpartum, or loss. Each doula specializes in the types of care and support they provide.

Can a doula be my provider?2025-04-22T00:41:04-04:00

No. A doula is an educator and support person, not a clinician or medical provider. Please reach out to the Clinic to speak with our provider.

Aren’t doulas and midwives the same?2025-04-22T10:11:58-04:00

No. A doula is not a midwife. A doula is an educator and support person from pregnancy to postpartum. A midwife is a trained healthcare professional who provides prenatal, labor and birth care, postpartum care, and newborn care. Midwives can birth babies in homebirth, a birthing center, or hospital settings. Please see our homebirth midwifery services to learn more.
